Where the belt sits on the jacket could you add some belt loops to it? 6 should be good. 2 in the front, 2 on the sides, and 2 in the back, like a pair of jeans.

The jacket itself should be a medium or heavy weight too as I'd like to cosplay this in the winter as well as fall. Or if you can get it to look heavy while it being a medium weight that's awesome too.
